GamSat 1.02 Notes 6/9/8
Will enhance an image by adjusting saturation, gamma, hue, highlight, and shadow while preserving color integrity as much as is possible. This plug-in is intended for use directly after the image has been adjusted for color integrity using ColorNeg, ColorPos or one of our other plug-ins.
ColorPos, ColorNeg, and GamSat are now available in larger dialogs with larger preview images to better accommodate larger displays. See

GamSat 1.02 is a significant upgrade to earlier versions. In addition to adding highlight and shadow adjustment, we have added handling separate adjustment of feathered selections, Undo capability, and the capibility of selectively remembering or not remembering settings from one image to the next. The speed of GamSat adjustments in version 1.02 has been grealtly improved, typically taking 1/5th as long as previous GamSat versions. We also released a Mac version of GamSat.
New Features in Version 1.02a
Version 1.02a has added an important refinement and full "Smart Filter" capability for use in Photoshop CS3.
Ambiance
We call the refinement "Ambiance" and it has been added as a scrollbar image adjustment, joining saturation, gamma, hue, ambiance, highlight, and shadow. Without the ambiance correction, gamma adjustments made in GamSat are accurate in color but can be off in saturation when compared to image changes made strictly adhering to the principles of color integrity. This difference in saturation varies with the change in intensity in different parts of the image so that it cannot be corrected by simply adjusting GamSat's saturation control. The goal for GamSat is to preserve color integrity insofar as that is possible so although the deviation in saturation is normally quite small, we have included it in GamSat 1.02a. When Ambiance is set to 100 the correction is fully in place and when Ambience is 0, the result is exactly the same as in former versions of GamSat. This gives the user the artistic choice to use whatever proportion of this correction seems best. The default is 100, which we consider to be the best setting in general.
Smart Filters
Photoshop CS3 introduced "Smart Filters." When using GamSat 1.02a as a Smart Filter in Photoshop CS3, check the "S" box that appears under the Cancel button. This enables full scripting as the default, which is required for Smart Filters and may be useful in other situations. GamSat may be used as a filter more than once on a smart object. In Smart Filter mode Photoshop does not pass selection data on to GamSat, so the selection handling features of GamSat are not available in Smart Filter mode. Please let us know if you find the GamSat Smart Filter useful. So far we find the Smart Filter concept interesting but we lack enthusiasm about Adobe's implementation of this feature.
GamSat is distributed as a demo version our web site
(http://www.c-f-systems.com/Plug-ins.html). This GamSat demo will work for 30 days after first usage. To use GamSat after that, you will need to purchase a key from our web site:
http://www.c-f-systems.com/Plug-ins.html
where you will find a paragraph starting in larger type:
"Purchase ColorNeg, ColorPos, and GamSat for PC."
Clicking this will take you to a secure site where you can purchase a "ColorNeg Family for PC" key code. As of 8/22/7 we are delivering a new type of key code. Our policy allows one key code to be used on up to three (3) computers belonging to the same individual or business and this SAME key code will unlock ColorPos and ColorNeg, not just Gamsat. However, separate keys are required for the PC and Mac versions of these programs.
Installation
Download the zip GamSat102.zip file. Put the GamSat.8bf file in the Photoshop filters folder, typically
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop x\Plug-Ins\Filters
where "Photoshop x" specifies the version of Photoshop. Once the GamSat.8bf file has been placed in the folder, Photoshop will automatically configure for ColorNeg and Scantique the next time it is started.
Starting GamSat
From the Photoshop Filter menu: Filter->C F Systems->GamSat. The C F Systems entry should be near the bottom of the Filter menu. There will be a short delay and the GamSat dialog will appear.
Updates to this ReadMe file will appear on
