Innovations in Applied Mathematics relating to Sight and Sound.
True Easel is a precise, comfortable computer interface with which the artist draws directly on a computer display with a pressure-sensitive stylus. It is in tune with the emerging Tablet Computer market, but since it can easily handle much larger displays it can be targeted differently. True Easel is very inexpensive to implement either as built-in hardware or as a retro-fit kit and both the cost and equipment are essentially independent of display size – even white-board implementations are easily produced. The device operates using simple, tiny cameras to watch and track the interactions with the display. In normal mode a pressure-sensitive stylus is used, but the device can also function as a finger-operated touch-screen for button-intensive tasks like surfing the web. We are seeking a computer or display manufacturer who would like a highly competitive entree to the tablet/artist/drawing market and large enough capacity to take full advantage of this invention. The patented technology is available for outright sale.
Recently there has been increased interest in touch interfaces for large displays, including plasma displays and whiteboards. The touch technology used for True Easel will work for any size display and is unique in that the cost increase for large sizes is very minor. A setup for a 4 foot by 5 foot display is not much more than for a 12 inch standard display and can be designed as a retrofit kit if desired. In fact, the True Easel Technology Decription, which is targeted to artist tablet applications, actually applies equally well to large displays. The large display can be operated with a drawing stylus, marker pen stylus, or with finger touch, using simple, tiny cameras to watch and track the interactions with the display with high precision. The patented technology is available for outright sale. True Easel Technology Decription View the Patent (750KB PDF) (Use the Back Button to Return to this page)
